In the beginning, there was “Lunchbox Hero.” I first wrote this book when I was an intern at Random House in 2001 and finished it later that year. After many, many rewrites and some very good responses, but no offer of publication, I finally abandoned LBH in 2006 and started writing something new. But the first chapter will forever remain published and available at Alan Guthries fine site Noir Originals.

After spending so long on LBH I was eager to try something new so I wrote another first person PI novel called “The Scars We Carry.” That too was abandoned after some close calls, some painful rewrites, and still no offer of publication. The first chapter was never published anywhere but it’s available here for your entertainment.
